It is one of the most ancient places of the city of Udine: already back in 1929 it was a wine seller and became a wine-merchant’s after the second world war.
The name “Speziaria” means pharmacy and refers ironically to the fact that it is giving “medicines” for healthy people, not for the sick ones as it is done in the as much ancient “real” pharmacy on the opposite side of the street.
After an accurate restoration of the fourteenth-century building by the local wine producer “Aquila del Torre”, the Speziaria re-opens in Autumn 2011 with Pietro and Ilenia. He is a chef and she is a sommelier: a couple the gets along well both in work and in private life.
From the wine cellar:
A generous selection of wines with a particular attention to the wide local production of this wonderful “wine garden called Friuli”, plus tempting excursions in the other most important Italian regions.
A particular focus is given to the wines produced by “Aquila del Torre”, tasted at the bar, made available for direct sale from the restaurant or the producer.
